Last weekend, I had the opportunity to take photos of my friend Hadley for her website. Hadley is working with Kate Spade this year and her website is Kate Spade themed. Her super cute website will house all of the work she will be doing with the company. That will include a fashion blog and promotional videos that embody what Kate Spade is.
With her photos she wanted to represent who she is, while being welcoming, and showing her audience that they can trust what she has to say. Hadley wanted a mix of cute, fun photos, and elegant photos to show the many colors of Hadley Oehlert.
When I photograph people, I prefer to use natural lighting because I think it looks beautiful when it hits the subject just right. In this photo, Hadley is sitting in a chair next to a window. It was cloudy on this day and I wasn't sure how I was going to like the lighting in this dark room, but in editing, I lightened the photo up and bit and I actually ended up really liking the light and dark contrast the cloud open window had on the photo.
This photo of Hadley was shot standing
next to her green Fiat. I liked the idea of
shooting next to her car because she has
a fun car that not a lot of people have, so I thought it would work well with the cute, fun photos she was going for. In this photo Hadley is wearing a fun striped Kate Spade shirt and holding her favorite Kate Spade book. I felt that a fun outfit like this one would look best in a fun setting to match it.
This is one of my personal favorite photos of Hadley. The lighting from the window it her perfectly and she looks absolutely beautiful.
More photos will be available coming soon on her website and my Facebook page!
Well spoken article about a unique topic. Your photography looks really good. I'm surprised that you know someone as interesting as this.
ReplyDeleteIt was very personal and I can tell that you really enjoyed doing this personal project. One thing I'd recommend is that you add links to the post for just different things like maybe a link to Hadley's fashion blog or something of that sort. I really like the way you laid out the blog and how the text wraps around the pictures. The post could be a bit longer. Maybe you could go more in depth about how shooting went and just go more into that process. It's a good blog I just wish there was more to it.
ReplyDeleteThese pictures are great (I'm a little biased), you did a fabulous job describing this shoot, and what we tried to accomplish here.
ReplyDeleteI agree with the above comments. Nice job Abby!
ReplyDeleteGreat photos, and you described well what sounds like a fun time. But what shots didn't work? What made them not as good as these three? Did you both try different different positions, angles, or full-body shots? How did those go? What went right, what went wrong? Nonetheless, a great blog and very cute layout!
ReplyDeleteLove the pictures! Super creative and fun! I like the look of your blog as well!
ReplyDeleteThe pictures of Hadley are super cute! You did a great job with the natural lighting and the pictures look very fun and pretty while remaining professional. Great job!
ReplyDeleteThe pictures you took are just fab to say the least and the lighting just really captures her beauty
ReplyDeleteVery good lighting in all of the photos. They are very good and creative shots. I like the way you explained your blog and what the pictures were for as well as what Hadley will be doing with them.
